Why did you start the business?
I was in the caravan industry before, building and fixing caravans. I’ve always liked this industry. In Australia, people travel a lot and go camping, so I saw there was always demand.
What’s something you’re proud of since starting?
Starting on my own. I’ve learned a lot in one year, especially understanding the market and what products actually move.
What was one of the hardest parts early on?
Finding the right location and suppliers. In Canberra, if a supplier already has someone nearby selling their products, they won’t work with you.
What’s one decision that made a difference?
Starting my own brand instead of going into a franchise. It gives more freedom.
What has become harder as the business has grown?
Getting sales. Both bringing people in and converting them. Marketing and advertising can be expensive, and you need to target the right people.
What are you working on improving right now?
Products and brand recognition. Also building the website and growing the name.
What does success look like over the next 12 months?
More sales and more staff who can replace me on the front so I can focus on growing the business.
What needs to change to make that happen?
More sales first, so I can confidently hire more staff.
