Empreus IT Support was built around a clear gap Darko noticed early on. While many IT providers were focused on large government contracts, smaller businesses were often left navigating technology on their own, relying on ad hoc fixes rather than structured support.

Starting in 2016, Darko positioned Empreus differently—focusing on ongoing managed services rather than one-off repairs. The goal was to give business owners clarity, consistency, and confidence in how their systems were running.

What does your business do and who do you help?

We provide managed IT services to small and medium businesses. In a broad sense, we simplify technology for the average person.

What’s something you’re really proud of?

Helping businesses completely change how they operate through technology. We’ve been able to remove manual processes and bring everything into one system, which can transform a business almost overnight.

What’s one decision that made a big difference to growth?

Moving from hourly support to managed services. Once clients had clear pricing and knew what they were getting each month, it changed everything.

What are you working on improving right now? 
Systems and operations, especially how we deliver quotes. We’re looking at making the process more personalised again, rather than just sending digital quotes. 

Why did you start the business?

There was a gap in the market. Most IT providers were focused on government work, and small businesses didn’t really have anyone supporting them properly. They were left with basic repair services, which didn’t help them improve how their business operated.

What was the hardest part in the early days?

Getting clients. It took close to 10 months to land the first major contract.

What has become more complicated as the business has grown? 
Managing staff and client expectations. As the team grows, you’re no longer doing everything yourself, so you need to guide the team while also helping clients understand that response times can change. 

What does success look like over the next 12 months? 
Reducing ticket resolution times so everything is resolved within 24 hours, ideally within the same business day. 

One thing that stood out

One of the more commercially significant decisions here was the move from ad hoc, hourly work to a fully managed service model. This is a transition many Canberra businesses navigate as they grow—shifting from reactive work to predictable, structured delivery. What it often unlocks is not just revenue consistency, but the ability to be proactive, which changes both client outcomes and the role the business plays in its customers’ operations.
